Editorial Policy

This page explains what Maro Maata publishes, how we write, and what we do when we get something wrong.

What Maro Maata is

Maro Maata is an independent digital publication. It carries news analysis, explainers and opinion. Every article starts from a news event or an issue people need to understand. Facts are checked against official and reliable sources, and the links to those sources sit inside the article itself. Opinion pieces are the writer’s own view, not that of any party or organisation.

You may disagree with a view expressed here. That is natural. You are free to disagree, and I am open to correcting my argument.

How we write

When writing about news events, figures or announcements, we link to the original report or official statement wherever possible. Anything not yet confirmed is clearly marked as reported or alleged. Criticism is aimed at a person’s words and actions, never at the person.

Corrections

Mistakes are not hidden. If a factual error (a name, date, figure or event) is found, it is corrected in the article and a dated “Correction” note is added. If a view changes, the old article is not deleted; a new article explains both.

Spotted an error? Write to contact@maromaata.com with the article, the sentence and what is wrong. We usually reply within two or three days.

Guest writers

Articles in the guest column are the views of their writers. Each carries the writer’s name, introduction and photo. Before publishing, we check facts and language; we do not change the writer’s opinion.

Comments

Comments are welcome, whether you agree or disagree. Only personal abuse, hate speech and spam links are removed. Views in comments belong to their authors.

Advertising and independence

Maro Maata carries no advertisements and no sponsored articles, and takes no financial support from any organisation. Its costs are borne personally. If that ever changes, it will be stated on this page.

How we handle your information is explained in the privacy policy.
